Demeka Becha is back and better than ever! Last year was our inaugural offering of this coffee, and we're honored to be able to share it with you this year, too. Although Ethiopia has had their fair share of trials this past year, they've persevered and continued to produce and export some of the world's finest coffees. In times such as these, we're all the more grateful for our partners at Catalyst Trade for sourcing excellent coffee that has the desire and effort behind it to empower communities. We're strong believers in the fact that you can provide incredible quality while seeking the benefit of others. This coffee is no exception to that rule -- in fact, we've loved every sip of this coffee since it arrived to our facility.

Demeka Becha is one of our more complex coffee offerings, and we see that this year through its chardonnay-like flavor profile. Chardonnays have this diverse set of flavors ranging from apple to papaya and from lemon to pineapple. We've even been noticing a ripe peach or apricot quality in this year's Demeka Becha. All of these ripe and juicy fruits are brought in harmony with a finish of sweet lime. Demeka Becha is a coffee that you'll be turning the bag upside down in order to get every last wonderful bean out -- a coffee you won't soon forget!

More from the Origin:

The Demeka Becha washing station in Sidama expertly processed this grade 1 coffee to preserve its integrity and complexity of flavor. Catalyst has been working with Ayele Tulu, the owner of the Demeka Becha washing station, and his family for many harvests. Ayele and his wife Genet Haile Endeshow truly operate the washing station as a family business and welcome in friends and strangers, alike, into their warm hospitality. Their care for community and attention to detail only compound our respect and appreciation for the work of Catalyst Trade to find partners like Ayele and his family and to foster warm, rich relationships with their partners like they’ve done, here, in Sidama. We rest easy knowing that the people of Catalyst Trade are directing a majority of their profits back into the hands of the native Ethiopians that make these incredible coffees a possibility and a reality.
